Challenge & solution

GORE-TEX Professional develops and sells protective fabrics for the following industries: fire and safety, law enforcement, defense, workwear. Products for professional end-use, from shoes to jackets and gloves, require highly specialized fabrics, seams and technical components that are essential to offer durable performance to protect workers using it on a daily basis. GORE-TEX Professional wanted to leverage state-of-the-art computer vision technology from Covision Media to showcase and highlight these performance and safety features through a half-cut GORE-TEX EXTRAGUARD safety boot in a realistic way.

Implementation

The goal was to present the brand new “EXTRAGUARD upper technology” in an utmost realistic way in order to increase engagement with the safety boot in a virtual setting. The 3D model was furthermore used as be the basis for an explanatory video highlighting the safety boot performance.

The GORE-TEX safety boot with the new EXTRAGUARD upper material was cut in half and sent to Covision Media’s offices in Italy. Covision’s team placed the object in its multicamera system and the photorealistic 3D model was captured and ready in a matter of 3 hours.
Covision labelled the 3D Model with hot spots, leveraging the company’s partnership with 3D player company Sketchfab.

GORE-TEX Professional was extremely satisfied with the project and plans to further explore this technology for future product innovations.

“Covision Media’s technology and the excellent service helped us to create a photorealistic 3D model in a matter of hours. The outcome of this project is a virtual object that looks like the real object and allows us to leverage it for many B2B marketing and sales functions.”
